
Three Blue Wave baseball players named to All-Conference/All-Region team
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Three FSCJ baseball players were named on Monday to the All-Sunlakes Conference team and All-Region 8 (Division II) team. Redshirt-Sophomores Evan Wickeri and Daniel Gaviria and Sophomore Barry Eiseman were awarded these postseason honors. Wickeri and Eiseman were two of the three unanimous selections in the conference.
Wickeri, a third-year sophomore from Middleburg (Ridgeview HS), was voted a unanimous first-team infielder by the coaches in the league, after anchoring the Blue Wave at first base and in the cleanup spot all season long. The third-year starter has played in 46 games so far for FSCJ this season, and leads the team in at bats (151), home runs (8), RBI (41), and triples (2), and is second in runs (33), hits (50), doubles (13), and average (.331). Wickeri is fourth in the conference in home runs. Wickeri was also named as the conference's 2022 Defensive Player of the Year, after he fielded .980 in 301 total chances this year.
Gaviria, a third-year sophomore from Orlando (Cypress Creek HS), was voted a first-team pitcher by the coaches. The lefty was the ace for the Wave on the mound this year, appearing in 13 games and starting 12. He is 6-2 on the year with one complete game shutout, amassing a 3.52 ERA in 71.2 innings pitched. His 55-9 strikeout to walk ratio is among the best in the league. He led FSCJ in innings pitched, ERA, and strikeouts. Gaviria is currently tied for first in the conference in wins and is second in ERA among starters.
Eiseman, a sophomore from Palm Harbor (Palm Harbor University HS), was voted a unanimous first-team designated hitter by the coaches in the Sunlakes. Eiseman was rooted in the three-hole in the FSCJ lineup for the entire season, and has played in 44 games for FSCJ in 2022, and leads the team in average (.419), hits (62), doubles (19), walks (23), and on-base percentage (.486), and is second in RBI (36), at bats (148), and home runs (2). He also scored 30 runs on the season. Eiseman led the conference in batting average and doubles.
