FSCJ Baseball Fall Recap
As we turn the calendars to the New Year, let's take a look back at the fall for the FSCJ Baseball program.
FSCJ competed in 16 intrasquad games as well as five games against outside competition - Daytona State, South Georgia State, St. Johns River (x2), and Edward Waters University. Top performers from the fall saw four hitters post .300+ averages, including returner Blake Wood and transfers Connor Nelson and Sam Gordon, and true freshman Carson Womer. Redshirt Freshman Kobe Wiggins showed major improvement at the plate, collecting seven doubles and leading the team in slugging. Six pitchers posted sub-3.0 ERAs, including Noah Wood, Bryce Kemper, Andrew Veniard, Truitt Todd, Dylan Peck, and Jacob Ward. This team returns some major pieces from its World Series run in 2022, but adds some very talented newcomers to the mix.
FSCJ Baseball participated in two community service projects during the holidays. The Blue Wave donated over 200 canned goods to the H.O.P.E. Holiday Food Pantry along with 40 toys to the Christmas Toy Drive. This completed a semester of over 10 service projects.
FSCJ Baseball also shined bright in the classroom this fall, earning a 3.24 team GPA, with 31 of 41 guys having a 3.0+ and two players (Andrew Veniard and Dylan Greene) with 4.0 GPAs. This is now the 14th straight semester with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher under Coach Frick's leadership.
