Big 6th inning lifts Santa Fe past FSCJ
Florida State College at Jacksonville baseball battled with Santa Fe College in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday in Gainesville, FL. Santa Fe was able to capitalize on a five run 6th inning to defeat FSCJ 9-4.

The 2024 edition of the annual BlueWave trip to Gainesville to play Santa Fe was a battle until the end, but ultimately FSCJ fell short. Santa Fe chipped the BlueWave to the tune of single runs in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 7th and a 5-spot in the 6th. FSCJ was able to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the 6th inning on RBI singles from Billy Girgis and RBI sacrifice flies from Carson Womer and Brooks Hicken. Braden Kessel contributed an RBI single in the 9th. Mac Wilkins led the charge on offense with 3 hits. Girgis and Ashton Nugent had multi-hit games as well. Dylan Peck started on the mound for the BlueWave and went two innings, allowing two runs. Ethan Yesensky allowed his first run of the season in 1.1 innings. Ethan Wilford contributed a scoreless inning. Dylan Cope (1-2) took the loss for the FSCJ, allowing three runs in 0.2 innings. Ethan Carroll (IP, 1 R), Joshua Rouw (1.1 IP, 1 R), and Connor Nelson (IP, 0 R) also pitched for FSCJ.
What's Next?
FSCJ will hit the road this weekend to New Port Richey to tango with the Bobcats of Pasco-Hernando State College in a Sun-Lakes Conference series. First pitch on Friday will be at 7:00 PM followed by a Saturday 12:00 PM doubleheader.
