A Fall Full of Heart: FSCJ Baseball Gives Back
This fall, Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) Baseball took the spirit of giving to a whole new level, joining forces with local organizations to make a positive impact on the community. From food drives to heart walks, it's been an exciting few months filled with giving, kindness, and plenty of opportunities to lend a helping hand.
Here's a quick look at some of the highlights from FSCJ Baseball's fall community efforts:
1. Walk Off Charities
Throughout the fall, FSCJ teamed up with Walk Off Charities not once, but six times! These events helped raise awareness and support children who have no idea what baseball is, giving them the opportunity to learn the game and get active outside of school.
2. Thanksgiving Food Drive with H.O.P.E.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, FSCJ Baseball partnered with H.O.P.E (Help Our People Eat) for a food drive that collected donations to help families in need. It was a heartwarming way to ensure that everyone had a meal to share during the holidays.
3. Toy Drive
The holidays got a little brighter thanks to FSCJ Baseball's toy drive, which brought holiday cheer to children who may not have otherwise had presents to unwrap. It was a wonderful opportunity for the FSCJ community to come together and make the season special for local families.
4. First Coast Heart Walk
FSCJ also took part in the local Heart Walk, helping to raise awareness and funds for heart disease research. Whether it was through participation or donations, the FSCJ family showed up to support a cause that's close to home for many.
5. Camp for Local Kids
FSCJ Baseball hosted a local camp for children in the area along with Jacksonville Congressman Terrance Freeman. The camp gave kids a chance to enjoy some outdoor fun, make new friends, and participate in activities that helped boost their confidence and creativity.
6. Arbor Day Tree Planting
FSCJ Baseball partnered with Greenscape of Jacksonville to plant over fifty trees at our Nassau Campus. This was a great way for our guys to give back to Mother Nature and make sure our Nassau Campus is environmentally safe for years to come.
7. Let's Move Jax
FSCJ Baseball joined forces with Let's Move Jax, an initiative promoting physical activity and health across Jacksonville. By hosting free fitness clinics and wellness activities, FSCJ Baseball encouraged the community to stay active and prioritize health.
8. Outdoor Retreat Center
FSCJ Baseball lent their time and energy to support the cleanup preservation of the Outdoor Retreat Center at our Nassau Campus. This space serves as a hub for team-building activities, nature exploration, and community gatherings, creating a welcoming environment for all.
A Big Thank You to Everyone Involved!
These are just a few examples of how FSCJ Baseball is making a real difference in the community. The success of each event wouldn't have been possible without the generous donations and hard work of students, staff, and faculty. Together, we're creating a stronger, more connected community, and we can't wait to see what's next!
If you're interested in getting involved in future events, stay tuned to FSCJ Baseball's announcements—we're always looking for ways to help out and give back!
