
Manta Rays Fall to the Saints in Extra Innings
The FSCJ Manta Rays were defeated by Sante Fe 7–4 on Tuesday at FSCJ North Campus. Sante Fe took an early lead in the top of the first inning when Blair doubled down the right field line, followed by a single from Lee, with each player scoring a run. However, FSCJ responded quickly as Pedro Morales singled down the left field line, helping tie the game at 2–2 in the bottom of the first.
FSCJ Manta Rays gained momentum in the bottom of the second when Alex Monile singled and drove in two runs, giving them a 4–2 lead. Sante Fe fought back in the top of the fifth, tying the game at 4 after Lee singled to left field on an 0–2 count. The game remained tied until the top of the eleventh inning, when Dejesus singled to bring in a run, followed by a single from Brown that extended Sante Fe's lead to 7–4.
On the mound, Gant Geiger started for the Manta Rays, allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) over four and two-thirds innings while striking out three and walking one. Wright opened for Sante Fe, surrendering three hits and four runs over two innings with two strikeouts and three walks.
Cobe Evans, FSCJ's number nine hitter, led his team with two hits in four at-bats. Morales and Monile each drove in two runs for the Manta Rays, while Deven Gonzalez drew two walks. The team demonstrated strong plate discipline with seven total walks and showed aggression on the bases with three stolen bases.
Sante Fe tallied 13 hits in the game, with Lee, Hansen, Dejesus, Blair, and Andrew each recording two hits. Lee and Brown led Sante Fe with two RBIs apiece, and the team also executed two double plays during the game.
